Sci-Tech Daresbury, the leading science and innovation campus in the North West, has welcomed two new high-growth companies: drone simulation specialists, The Unmanned Company, and non-destructive testing (NDT) experts, Array Training. Both firms have relocated to The Innovation Centre, a state-of-the-art 24,000 sq-ft facility at the heart of the campus, reinforcing the site's reputation as a hub for pioneering technology and expertise.

The Unmanned Company focuses on simulation-driven risk assessments and flight analysis to enhance operational safety for complex drone missions. Their advanced evaluation tools support drone operators, event organisers, and security professionals in planning and executing missions previously deemed too risky. The company’s expansion at Sci-Tech Daresbury marks a significant leap, as it develops counter-drone systems aimed at bolstering defence and security responses against hostile drone threats.

Dr Ethan Bond, Founder of The Unmanned Company, said: “We’re incredibly excited by our move to Sci-Tech Daresbury. The atmosphere here is filled with innovation, with limitless opportunities for collaboration now on our doorstep. We have the pleasure of calling several incredible technology companies our neighbours, and we can’t wait to grow alongside them on campus. We’re looking forward to continuing our important work here in an environment that supports our mission to improve the safety and operational success of complex drone missions.”

Array Training, meanwhile, brings to Sci-Tech Daresbury its globally recognised NDT expertise, with a focus on training, examination, and consulting services for sectors such as construction, maritime, energy, and process industries. NDT plays a crucial role in identifying flaws and operational irregularities such as fatigue, corrosion, and erosion, ensuring the safety and reliability of critical infrastructure.

While already established in Scotland, Array Training’s expansion to Warrington reflects its ambition to tap into the North West's broad industrial base and access talent from renowned nearby universities and colleges. The company is actively recruiting permanent instructors and consultants for the new site, with plans to introduce graduate and apprenticeship placements.

Bill Donaldson, Business Development & Commercial Director at Array Training, commented: “Our move to Sci-Tech Daresbury signifies our commitment to growth in the North West. The campus presents the perfect opportunity to develop and deliver training right here at The Innovation Centre, where we very much look forward to delivering critical NDT courses using the state-of-the-art facilities on campus. It’s a great pleasure to grow alongside such innovative companies, and we’re excited to collaborate with our pioneering new neighbours on future projects.”

John Leake, Business Growth Director at Sci-Tech Daresbury, welcomed the arrival of both companies, noting: “It’s been fantastic to welcome The Unmanned Company and Array Training to our thriving high-tech ecosystem. Both companies seamlessly align with our aptitude for growth and focus on innovation as they look to expand their teams and service offerings from Sci-Tech Daresbury. While Array Training is already a highly recognised business in NDT Training, bringing their extraordinary expertise to campus, The Unmanned Company is on track to transform the drone simulation industry with pioneering tech. We greatly anticipate the exciting futures that await both companies.”

The arrival of The Unmanned Company and Array Training further strengthens Sci-Tech Daresbury's position as a premier destination for innovative businesses seeking to collaborate, scale, and drive the next wave of technological advancements.
