DEE Development Engineers Limited, an engineering and process piping solutions provider, has signed a framework agreement with a domestic engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor to jointly pursue opportunities in India’s nuclear power sector, including projects involving Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR), Light Water Reactors (LWR) and Small Modular Reactors (SMR).
The agreement covers piping requirements across the Nuclear Island and Turbine Island, including primary piping, common services, secondary-cycle piping and light-water systems. The products covered include pipes, pipe fittings, piping spools and forged pipes.
Under the agreement, DEE will provide pre-bid support, including budgetary estimates, commercial inputs and pricing assistance. Its engineering responsibilities will include 3D modelling, piping general arrangement drawings, isometrics, stress analysis, piping support design, material take-offs, and preparation of as-built drawings and models.
The company will also support the manufacturing, sourcing and supply of piping products and components. The scope includes manufacturing and quality processes, non-destructive testing (NDT), other testing requirements and associated documentation, placing inspection and quality assurance among the activities covered by the proposed collaboration.
The EPC contractor will lead sourcing enquiries, customer interactions, offer preparation and contract finalisation in consultation with DEE. The framework provides a basis for both companies to identify and pursue projects across India’s nuclear power industry.
Commenting on the agreement, KL Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of DEE Development Engineers Limited, said India’s nuclear energy plans were creating opportunities to strengthen domestic manufacturing and engineering capabilities. He noted that reliable piping systems, specialised engineering and compliance with stringent quality standards would be important for developing nuclear power infrastructure. Bansal added that the company would work with its EPC partner to pursue opportunities across the nuclear power value chain by drawing on its engineering, manufacturing and specialised piping capabilities.
The agreement comes as India seeks to expand its energy infrastructure and develop domestic capabilities across specialised industrial sectors. Nuclear power projects require piping systems and components designed to meet demanding engineering, testing and quality requirements.
DEE Development Engineers provides customised process piping solutions for industries including oil and gas, power, chemicals and other process industries. Its portfolio includes high-pressure piping systems, piping spools, high-frequency induction pipe bends, longitudinal submerged arc welded (LSAW) pipes, industrial fittings, pressure vessels, industrial stacks, modular skids and boiler components.
