CWB Group to Certify Non-Destructive Personnel as Recognized Body in Early 2024
In a recent announcement, the CWB Group has unveiled its plans to become a certification body for non-destructive personnel (NDT) starting in early 2024. Under this initiative, the organization will provide certification to individuals based on the Canadian standard CAN/CGSB-48.9712, which focuses on the qualification and certification of NDT personnel.
The decision to offer NDT certification reflects the CWB Group's commitment to maintaining public safety and acknowledging the exceptional skills of Canadian tradespeople and inspection personnel who meet global standards of excellence. With a rich history of managing third-party certification systems in Canada, including the esteemed national visual welding inspector program (CSA W178.2), the CWB Group actively contributes to the advancement of certification practices and the enhancement of NDT certification standards within Canada and across the globe.
The collaboration will be a key aspect of this new endeavor, as the CWB Group will work closely with existing NDT training delivery organizations and examination delivery organizations to ensure comprehensive coverage and meet the diverse needs of Canadians.
Craig Martin, the vice president of certification, expressed enthusiasm about this development, stating, "The CWB Group is thrilled to embrace this new role and remains committed to supporting the Canadian industry. Our decision to become a certification body for NDT personnel is a direct response to industry professionals' demand, and we are proud to meet that need. Our ongoing dedication is centered on fostering a robust and competitive industry now and in the future."
