Certerra has acquired Skyrise Engineering and Testing, a Fort Lauderdale-based engineering and consulting firm, in a move that strengthens the company's presence across the Southeast and marks its fifth acquisition of 2026.
Founded in 2022, Skyrise Engineering and Testing provides geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, specialty inspections, monitoring and condition assessment services, and environmental consulting. The company is led by engineers Eric Stern and Richard Fesdjian, whose combined industry presence spans 20 years and includes work on major developments across South Florida.
From a testing and inspection perspective, the acquisition adds established capabilities in construction materials testing, specialty inspection, monitoring and condition assessment to Certerra's growing platform. Skyrise also provides specialized services including vibration monitoring and instrumentation, expanding the range of technical services available to clients in South Florida.
“Skyrise has built an outstanding reputation for advanced geotechnical testing solutions in one of the fastest-growing, dynamic markets in the country,” said Ed Lyon, Chief Executive Officer of Certerra. “Eric, Richard, and their team have demonstrated a strong commitment to technical excellence, client service, and entrepreneurial growth, and we are excited to partner with them as we continue delivering exceptional value to our clients.”
Stern and Fesdjian will remain with the company and lead its growth in the South Florida market. Their continued involvement is expected to retain Skyrise's local technical expertise, client relationships and operating capabilities as it becomes part of Certerra's broader testing, inspection and certification platform.
“Joining Certerra represents an exciting next chapter for Skyrise,” said Stern. “Through this partnership, we gain access to additional resources, technical expertise, and a broader national network that will create new opportunities for both our employees and clients while preserving the culture and responsiveness that have fueled our success.”
The acquisition continues Certerra's expansion through a series of acquisitions across the US testing and inspection market. Since the beginning of 2026, the company has completed five acquisitions, adding more than 250 team members and seven offices across five metropolitan markets. The expansion has also added capabilities in building envelope testing and inspection, metallurgy and metals laboratory testing, and specialized engineering and consulting services.
Certerra describes its broader platform as providing technology-enabled testing, inspection and certification (TIC) services in materials engineering and earth sciences. Its network now comprises more than 1,800 engineers, technicians and scientists across more than 65 offices and laboratory facilities.
The addition of Skyrise further extends this network in South Florida, combining the firm's geotechnical and materials testing expertise with Certerra's national resources and specialized capabilities. The acquisition forms part of Certerra's ongoing strategy of bringing local testing and inspection expertise into a broader national platform.
