CDL Group Ltd has expanded its non-destructive testing and inspection capabilities through the acquisition of Ultraflux NDT Ltd, a Norfolk-based specialist in NDT and welding technologies.

The acquisition marks a further stage in the growth of the Newtown-headquartered company, which has built a nationwide presence in welding inspection, testing, ISO certification, and compliance services since its establishment in 2013.

Based on Mochdre Industrial Estate in Mid Wales, CDL Group said the acquisition strengthens its technical expertise while expanding its service offering to customers across the UK and Ireland. Ultraflux NDT, which employs approximately five people, will join CDL Group’s existing workforce of around 15 employees.

Both companies will continue operating as normal, with a focus on combining expertise across inspection, testing, certification, and compliance activities.

Commenting on the acquisition, Edward Cadenne de Lannoy, founder of CDL Group, said:

“2026 has been an extremely exciting year of growth for CDL Group. Following on from another acquisition earlier in the year with WeldEng, our partnership with Ultraflux NDT further strengthens our technical capabilities and supports our commitment to providing clients with trusted expertise, innovative solutions and industry-leading service.

“What began as a local company 13 years ago has grown into a business that works with customers not only nationally but globally and the acquisition of Ultraflux is another really exciting milestone for us.

“Despite our national reach, Mid Wales remains at the heart of everything we do. We’re passionate about investing and supporting local businesses and showing that companies based in rural Wales can compete and succeed on a national stage.

“Ultraflux has built an excellent reputation and has a talented team behind it. By bringing together complementary skills and experience, we are better positioned than ever to support organisations across welding, inspection, ISO certification and compliance activities.”

The acquisition follows another strategic expansion by CDL Group earlier in 2026 and reflects continued consolidation within the inspection and compliance sector.

CDL Group operates across two core business areas: certification and compliance services that support organisations in achieving internationally recognised ISO standards, and welding inspection and non-destructive testing services serving sectors including engineering and construction.

For the NDT industry, the acquisition strengthens expertise in inspection technologies that enable the evaluation of materials and structures without causing damage. Such testing methods play a critical role in identifying defects, assessing integrity, and helping organisations mitigate operational risks before failures occur.

By integrating Ultraflux NDT into its operations, CDL Group aims to enhance its technical capabilities while creating opportunities for greater collaboration, service expansion, and innovation across welding inspection, non-destructive testing, and compliance services throughout the UK and Ireland.
