Bilfinger, a leading international industrial services provider, has been awarded a significant contract to deliver Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspection services across all of bp’s North Sea assets. This new agreement expands on an existing three-year insulation, access, and painting (ISP) contract with bp, initially awarded in 2019 and recently extended.
The expanded partnership will see Bilfinger deploy an array of cutting-edge technologies, including robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions. This strategic move aligns with bp's broader commitment to sustainable and technologically advanced operations. The contract will also introduce a fully integrated, end-to-end digital workflow, setting a new standard for NDT by leveraging smart digitization and AI-ready integration.
David Hall, Vice President of Inspection at Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance UK, highlighted the importance of the new deal. "This contract award is a testament to the success of our collaborative approach with bp and our extensive experience of delivering integrated services that deliver value, without compromise," he said. "Bilfinger continues to pioneer the development and implementation of new competency standards for Non-Destructive Testing, while also evaluating and validating emerging technologies to enhance service delivery and deliver sustainable efficiency improvements."
The contract ensures the continuation of more than 250 jobs, with a dedicated team of 14 onshore and 241 offshore personnel, and is set to run until 2027. This latest contract win for Bilfinger Engineering & Maintenance UK follows similar recent extensions to two other major North Sea contracts, where the company has been recognized for its exceptional performance and commitment to continuous improvement.
