MISTRAS Group, Inc. has been selected by Bechtel to deliver non-destructive testing (NDT) services for the Woodside Louisiana LNG terminal, a multibillion-dollar liquefied natural gas production and export facility currently under construction in Sulphur, Louisiana.
The Woodside Louisiana LNG project, permitted for up to 27.6 million tonnes per annum of LNG production, stands among the most significant energy infrastructure developments globally and represents a major expansion of U.S. Gulf Coast LNG capacity. The facility is expected to play a critical role in meeting long-term global energy demand while reinforcing the United States’ position as a leading LNG exporter.
Under the scope of work, MISTRAS will provide a comprehensive suite of NDT services essential to ensuring construction quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. These services include Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Positive Material Identification (PMI), Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT), and Leak Testing. Collectively, these methods will support the integrity verification of welds, materials, and critical components across the LNG terminal.
All inspection activities will be executed by certified MISTRAS technicians in accordance with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. The deployment of advanced NDT techniques is expected to support Bechtel’s construction execution by enabling early detection of defects, reducing rework, and maintaining high standards of asset integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
The selection of MISTRAS underscores the growing reliance on specialised non-destructive testing expertise in large-scale LNG developments, where quality assurance and structural reliability are paramount.
