Argentina is set to take a central role in global industrial safety as it prepares to host the World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (WCNDT) in 2028, marking a milestone not only for the country but also for the broader Latin American region. The announcement was made during the PANNDT conference in Niagara Falls, where Jorge Amsler, Vice President of AAENDE (Argentine Association of Non-Destructive Testing and Structural Integrity), outlined Argentina’s vision for technical leadership, regional integration, and cultural diplomacy.

The event is expected to bring together leading experts, organizations, and technology providers in the non-destructive testing (NDT) industry, reinforcing Latin America’s growing influence on the global stage.

“They were here, we got two Argentines to come here tonight and show us their repertoire, to show us how we feel our land in Buenos Aires, the passion for tango, for the music and for this dance,” said Jorge Amsler, referring to a tango performance organized by AAENDE at the PANNDT gala.

A Unique Blend of Science, Trade and Culture

AAENDE’s approach to the 2028 WCNDT goes beyond technical excellence. By integrating cultural elements such as tango—Argentina’s internationally recognized symbol of passion and identity—AAENDE aims to deliver a holistic event that showcases the country’s scientific capabilities and cultural richness.

The event is poised to be a convergence point for applied engineering, commercial exchange, and regional collaboration, with support from industry leaders and the international organizing committee, including figures like César, who currently chairs the global body.

Latin America's Growing Role in NDT

Argentina’s selection as the host country is seen as a recognition of Latin America’s rising contribution to structural safety and industrial diagnostics. AAENDE’s ongoing efforts to build collaborative technical networks across Latin America have been a cornerstone of this progress.

By 2028, the global NDT community is expected to witness a transformation in how emerging regions contribute to innovation, research, and standards in industrial testing. Argentina’s integrative proposal reflects this evolution—combining infrastructure readiness with a narrative that values technical integrity and cultural resonance.
