Position Summary:
The Inspection Engineer – Wind Blade Inspection is responsible for ensuring the quality and structural integrity of wind turbine blades through inspection activities conducted at the site. The role involves performing inspections using visual and non-destructive testing techniques, identifying defects in composite structures, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The engineer supports quality improvement initiatives and contributes to defect prevention through analysis and corrective actions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of wind turbine blades.
- Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing methods such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Tap Test.
- Identify defects including delamination, cracks, porosity, bonding issues, and surface irregularities.
- Interpret and verify engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports and documentation.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate with production teams to improve quality and prevent defects.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and client requirements.
Qualifications:
- B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 7–8 years of experience in wind turbine blade inspection.
- Strong experience working with composite structures.
- Knowledge of NDT methods including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Visual Inspection, and Tap Test.
- Understanding of GD&T and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as 7 QC tools, CAPA, and basic FMEA.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently at site locations.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to blade repair, finishing, and quality inspection processes.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and audit handling.
