Position Summary
Apave is seeking a Welding / NDT Technician for a permanent position (CDI) at its Cherbourg agency. The technician will contribute to the safety of people, property, and the environment by carrying out welding quality inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and client support activities.
After completing the onboarding and integration program, the technician will work on technical assignments involving welding documentation, quality compliance, and NDT examinations of new and in-service assemblies.
Responsibilities:-
- Welding Inspection & Quality Analysis
- Analyze and validate welding quality documentation, including welding books, WPS/DMOS, WPQR/QMOS, and material certificates.
- Verify that manufactured components comply with applicable codes and regulations.
- Conduct quality inspections related to welding activities.
Non-Destructive Testing:-
- Perform Visual Testing (VT) examinations after completing the required training.
- Detect anomalies in new and in-service welded assemblies.
- Develop capabilities in additional NDT techniques, including Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
- Complete COFREND Level 2 VT training and certification when required.
Client Relations:-
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients.
- Provide quality follow-up for inspection services.
- Recommend appropriate technical solutions to clients based on their requirements.
Qualifications:-
- Higher education or technical training in metallurgy, welding fabrication, or maintenance.
- An International Welding Technologist (IWT) qualification is an advantage.
- Interest in Visual Testing and willingness to complete COFREND Level 2 VT training and certification.
- Knowledge of the nuclear sector and/or EDF authorizations is desirable.
- Strong technical interest and a field-oriented approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to support and advise clients.
- Rigorous and methodical approach to technical assignments.
- Valid Category B driving license.
Requirements:-
- Ability to travel as part of the role.
- Willingness to complete the required VT training and certification if not already certified.
- Ability to perform technical inspection activities accurately and methodically.
- Ability to work primarily within a defined geographical area.
