Position Summary:
The Welding Inspection Supervisor is responsible for conducting visual and non-destructive examinations of welded materials and structures to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications, including ISO 17025 requirements. The role involves inspection, accurate documentation, supervision of inspection activities, and interpretation of welding procedures and technical drawings within an accredited laboratory environment. The position contributes to maintaining quality, safety, and integrity in materials testing services.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual welding inspections before, during, and after welding operations, including procedure and welder qualification tests
- Perform and interpret NDT methods such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and dye penetrant testing (PT)
- Verify weld joint preparation, fit-up, and welding parameters against approved WPS
- Evaluate weld quality for defects and compliance with acceptance criteria
- Deliver welded samples to NDT providers and laboratories for testing
- Supervise welding inspectors, manage scheduling, review reports, and train junior staff
- Interpret radiographic testing (RT) films
- Maintain detailed inspection records, reports, and test documentation
- Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs) for defects and deviations
- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and internal quality procedures
- Generate and submit inspection reports to clients and stakeholders
- Interpret welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API, ISO, Aramco)
- Apply WPS and PQR requirements in inspection activities
- Stay updated with industry best practices and technologies
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Communicate inspection findings and project updates to clients
- Address client queries and resolve technical issues
- Follow all safety requirements and use appropriate PPE
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification
- NDT Level II certifications in VT, UT, MT, and PT (ASNT, PCN, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and NDT techniques
- Proficiency in welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API, ISO)
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Proficiency in inspection equipment and software
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements
Requirements:
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in welding inspection
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a welding supervisor/manager for PQR/WQT qualification testing
- Valid driver’s license
