Position Summary:

The Weld Quality RT Technician is responsible for performing radiographic inspections in refinery and chemical plant environments using conventional Radiography (RT), Digital Radiography (DR), and Computed Radiography (CR). The role includes inspection execution, data interpretation, reporting, equipment setup, and training of RT assistants and Level I personnel in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and customer-specific procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections in refinery or chemical plant environments using RT, DR, and CR techniques and report inspection findings.
  • Train RT assistants, process radiographic film, and grade film as per customer-specific procedures.
  • Set up and calibrate radiographic equipment and interpret and evaluate results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the scope and limitations of qualified NDE methods and provide on-the-job training and guidance to trainees and NDT Level I personnel.
  • Organize, generate, and report NDT test results.
  • Generate, organize, and evaluate NDT data for disposition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior certification as an NDE Level II with a minimum of one (1) year of experience, or prior certification as an NDE Level I technician with sufficient field experience hours to certify to Level II per SNT-TC-1A standards.
  • Certification must apply to one or more of the following methods: RT, Digital RT, and/or CR.
  • Industrial Radiographers Certification Card.
  • Completion of a forty (40) hour Radiation Safety Course.

Requirements:

  • Valid TWIC Card.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Compliance with company policies including prohibition of smoking in all indoor company areas unless designated smoking areas are provided in accordance with state and local laws.
