Technical Specialist

Position Summary:

The Technical Specialist (Aramco QM27) is responsible for performing visual inspections of materials and fabricated equipment at vendor shops or on-site fabrication and testing facilities. The role requires expertise in quality control inspections and tests, including nondestructive testing techniques, mechanical testing, dimensional inspection, pressure testing, and coating inspections. The position requires frequent travel, with inspectors working on an ad-hoc basis depending on client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform shaft balance, rotor stack balance, rotor ERO/MRO, residual unbalance, and rotor final balance inspections.
• Conduct inspections or audits and review testing for conformance to client specifications, industry standards, and approved procedures.
• Review material test reports for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Follow up on dispositions and corrective actions related to non-conformances.
• Document inspection activities in electronic formats.
• Evaluate and agree upon project quality procedures, standards, and specifications, ensuring all stakeholders adhere to them.
• Review Inspection & Testing Plans (ITPs) to confirm standardized levels of surveillance per contractual requirements.
• Identify critical inspections and tests to be witnessed by the Owner.
• Carry out inspection visits as per ITPs either personally or through third-party resources.

Type of Equipment:

• Revamp of existing gas compressor package.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Aramco Certified QM27 required.
• High school diploma or GED, trade school, on-the-job training, or university diploma.
• 5+ years of third-party vendor inspection, expediting, or auditing experience.
• Strong background in quality control inspections and tests, including nondestructive testing techniques, mechanical testing, dimensional inspection, pressure testing, and coating inspections.
• Technical training in quality, NDT, blueprint reading, industry standards, auditing, expediting, materials, welding, coatings, electrical components, instrumentation, pressure testing, and related areas.
• Experience with mechanical/pressure vessels and lifting equipment.
• Basic knowledge of material properties.
• Understanding of procurement and fabrication processes, with knowledge of relevant codes and specifications for the oil and gas industry.
• Ability to travel frequently throughout the continental US.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Proficiency in MS Office programs and Outlook.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Valid industry certifications preferred, including but not limited to:
• AWS CWI
• API 510, 570, SI (Source Inspector)
• Electrical Journeyman License
• NACE CIP 1, 2, 3
• EMA Basic or Advanced
• ASNT NDT Level II or III
• ASQ or IRCA Certified Auditor

Salary & Schedule:

• Hourly pay range: $40.00 – $50.00 (compensation based on skills, experience, and qualifications).
• Inspectors work on an ad-hoc basis, with scheduling based on client needs, availability, and location.
