Position Summary:

The position involves project management activities, including quality surveillance and expediting as part of third-party inspection for various project items. The role operates in alignment with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, the BV Code of Ethics, and the BV Group Policy to ensure integrity, compliance, and operational excellence.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Review applicable contractual requirements such as technical standards and specifications, identifying and communicating any potential execution or inspection challenges.
  • Conduct inspection of pressure vessels and components (filters, boilers, storage tanks, etc.) from raw material to final stage as per relevant codes and standards such as ASME Sec-VIII. Activities include document review (QAP, WPS, PQR, WPQR, NDT procedures), material identification, applicable testing, and stage-wise inspection of welding and fabrication, including NDT, component inspection, and final hydraulic or pneumatic testing.
  • Perform piping inspections for process plants, including stage-wise inspection, dimensional verification, and spool inspection at fabricator sites.
  • Inspect pipes and tubes (ERW & SS) in accordance with ASTM, IS, and API standards, covering raw material to final inspection. This includes document review, witnessing UT, eddy-current testing, MPT, hydro-tests, and mechanical tests for black and galvanized pipes.
  • Inspect piping components such as flanges, fittings, valves, and pumps, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and product standards.
  • Inspect castings (e.g., shafts, roller assemblies, gears, mill heads) involving raw material identification, physical and chemical testing, ultrasonic testing, and final inspection after machining using MPI and DPI.
  • Conduct inspections of steel structures for hydropower plants, including components such as radial gates, spillway stop logs, surge shafts, and trash racks, using MPI, DPI, and UT techniques.
  • Select appropriate inspection techniques for assigned activities.
  • Monitor, coach, and supervise one or more inspectors during project execution.
  • Conduct vendor assessments, including audits on documentation, quality control, and assurance processes at vendor sites; review nonconformance follow-ups, assess QMS effectiveness, and assign vendor ratings based on performance.
  • Coordinate and manage inspection projects, including preparation and implementation of inspection checklists, coordination of inspection for bought-out and fabricated items, and maintaining communication with clients.
  • Execute all inspection activities diligently and impartially, recording results accurately within inspection reports.

  • Comply with all Bureau Veritas Cardinal Safety Rules.
  • Adhere to company HSE policies, procedures, and legal requirements applicable to the work environment.
  • Ensure personal safety and contribute to the safety of colleagues and others on-site.
  • Report immediately any incidents, unsafe conditions, or practices to the line manager.
  • Participate in identifying and sharing opportunities for HSE improvements.

Performance Evaluation Criteria (KPIs)

  • Timely delivery of inspection reports to clients.
  • Quality and accuracy of reports.
  • Completion of inspections within allocated timeframes.
  • Client claims and detention ratio.
  • Customer satisfaction levels.
  • Contribution to additional sales, cross-selling, and commercial opportunities.
  • Active participation in knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination.

Qualification, Experience & Technical Knowledge

  • Engineering Graduate / Diploma / B.Sc. (preferably in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering).
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including 3–5 years in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC principles and practices.
  • NDT Level II qualification as per service line requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of national and international codes, standards, and methodologies related to inspection activities.
