Position Summary:

The position is responsible for project management activities including Quality Surveillance and Expediting as part of third-party inspection for various projects. The role performs in alignment with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, including adherence to the BV Code of Ethics and BV Group policy.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Review applicable contractual requirements such as technical standards and specifications, and highlight any execution or inspection issues.
  • Conduct inspection of pressure vessels and components—including filters, boilers, storage tanks—through all stages from raw material to final inspection, as per applicable codes and standards such as ASME Sec-VIII. This includes review of QAP, WPS, PQR, WPQR, NDT procedures, material identification, testing requirements, welding and fabrication inspections, NDT, and final hydraulic or pneumatic leak testing.
  • Inspect piping systems for process plants, including stage-wise inspections, component inspection, dimensional checks, and spool inspection at fabricators’ sites.
  • Inspect ERW and SS pipes as per ASTM, IS, and API standards from raw material through final inspection, including document review, strip and pipe UT, eddy-current testing, MPT, hydrotest, mechanical testing, and requirements for black and galvanized pipes.
  • Inspect piping components such as flanges, fittings, valves, and pumps, including applicable testing as per relevant codes and standards.
  • Inspect castings such as shafts, roller assemblies, gears, and mill heads including raw material identification, physical and chemical testing, UT in proof-machined condition, post-machining inspection, MPI, and DPT.
  • Inspect steel structures for hydropower plants, including radial gates, spillway stop logs, surge shafts, trash racks, structural sections, trusses, and towers, including MPI, DPT, and UT.
  • Select the most appropriate inspection techniques.
  • Monitor, coach, and supervise one or more inspectors.
  • Conduct vendor assessments including audits of documentation, QC and QA practices, NC follow-up systems, QMS implementation, product testing, and vendor rating.
  • Perform capacity assessments of manufacturing facilities for various clients.
  • Coordinate and manage inspection activities for bought-out items and site inspections for fabricated structural parts.
  • Prepare and implement inspection checklists.
  • Conduct inspection activities diligently and impartially within the assigned scope.
  • Record inspection results impartially in inspection reports.

  • Follow company HSE policies, procedures, guidelines, and applicable local legal requirements.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of colleagues and others.
  • Immediately report any HSE shortcomings, incidents, unsafe practices, or conditions to the line manager.
  • Share improvement opportunities related to HSE.

Criteria for Performance Evaluation (KPIs):

  • Time taken to deliver reports to the client.
  • Quality of reports.
  • Completion of inspections within allocated timeframes.
  • Client claims.
  • Detention ratio.
  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Additional sales, cross-selling, and number of commercial opportunities referred.
  • Sharing information, best practices, and knowledge management.

Qualification, Experience & Technical Knowledge:

  • Engineering Graduate / Diploma / B.Sc., preferably in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience, including 3–5 years in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC is required.
  • Level II NDT qualification as per service line requirements.
  • Knowledge of national and international codes, standards, and methodologies relevant to inspection activities.
