Senior Surveyor

Position Summary

The Senior Surveyor is responsible for executing comprehensive inspections of pressure vessels, piping systems, structural components, and associated equipment in accordance with national and international codes and standards. This role involves document review, stage-wise inspection, and quality verification throughout the fabrication and testing processes. The Senior Surveyor also contributes to vendor assessment, quality audits, and project coordination to ensure compliance, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspection of Pressure Vessels and Components
• Conduct inspections of equipment such as filters, boilers, and storage tanks from the raw material stage to final testing, adhering to ASME Section VIII and other applicable standards.
• Review and validate quality documentation including QAPs, WPS, PQR, WPQR, and material certificates.
• Perform stage-wise welding and fabrication inspections, including NDT, leakage testing (hydraulic and pneumatic), and final acceptance checks.
• Inspection of Piping and Associated Components
• Perform inspection of process plant piping, including stage-wise and dimensional inspections at fabrication sites.
• Review piping components such as flanges, fittings, valves, and pumps, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Inspection of Pipes and Tubes
• Oversee inspections of ERW and stainless-steel pipes as per ASTM, IS, and API standards, from raw materials to final testing.
• Witness strip and pipe ultrasonic testing, eddy current testing, hydro-testing, MPT, and mechanical testing.
• Supervise inspection and quality verification for galvanized and black pipes across various grades and projects.
• Inspection of Castings and Structural Components
• Inspect critical components such as shafts, roller assemblies, gears, and mill heads, performing raw material identification, testing, and NDT (UT, MPI, DPT).
• Conduct inspection of steel structures for hydro power plants including gates, spillways, stop logs, trusses, and towers.
• Vendor Assessment and Quality Audits
• Perform vendor audits assessing quality control systems, documentation, and product testing processes.
• Conduct non-conformance analysis and vendor rating based on audit findings.
• Evaluate manufacturing capacities and compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
• Project Coordination and Management
• Develop and implement inspection checklists and coordinate project-related inspections for fabricated and bought-out items.
• Manage inspection schedules, progress tracking, and communication between project teams and clients.
• Deliver quarterly knowledge-sharing presentations on mechanical inspection topics to promote continuous learning and development.

Key Requirements

• Strong technical expertise in inspection of mechanical equipment, pressure systems, and structural components.
• In-depth knowledge of ASME, ASTM, IS, and API standards and quality control principles.
• Proven experience in NDT methods including UT, MPI, and DPT.
• Excellent documentation, reporting, and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and project coordination abilities.
• Vendor audit and quality management system (QMS) experience preferred.
