Position Summary:

The Senior NDT Engineer supports the implementation of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technical consulting and product development services for Oceaneering business units and global clients. The role ensures alignment with Oceaneering and client documentary requirements, applicable onshore/offshore legislation, and industry standards. Responsibilities include interpreting inspection data, generating detailed reports, ensuring compliance with specifications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance inspection workflows while maintaining high levels of quality and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and interpret indications or defects on CR/DR images, including cracks, voids, inclusions, corrosion, or discontinuities.
  • Analyze ultrasonic data to determine the nature, severity, and relevance of detected defects in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Document findings accurately, including defect location, size, orientation, and other relevant details.
  • Generate comprehensive inspection reports summarizing findings, interpretations, and recommendations.
  • Communicate inspection results and follow-up requirements effectively to clients, engineers, or supervisors.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance procedures and protocols to maintain consistency and reliability.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements for CR imaging and interpretation.
  • Collaborate with radiographers, technicians, engineers, and other inspection team members to optimize workflows and outcomes.
  • Conduct site audits as required and ensure project execution is completed professionally and thoroughly.
  • Ensure non-conformances are recorded and reported to the operations manager.
  • Perform work in accordance with Oceaneering inspection operating procedures and statutory/client specifications.
  • Interpret codes, standards, and contractual documents governing the NDT methods used.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on design and development status for stakeholder discussions.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging issues.
  • Demonstrate initiative in achieving individual and team objectives.
  • Work toward individual goals aligned with departmental and organizational priorities.
  • Comply with organizational HR policies and procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to organizational HSE policies and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Required
    • Master’s Degree in a related Engineering discipline (Mechanical or allied fields, Corrosion, Materials, Metallurgy) with a minimum of 6 years of experience - OR
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Desired
    • NDT Level II qualification in MT, PT, UT, and RT
    • Level II qualification in MFL (advantage)
    • Experience with simulation software (CIVA, Artist, COMSOL) and analysis software (Tomoview, OmniPC, TDScan)
    • Proficiency in interpreting radiographic images across techniques
    • Strong understanding of NDT principles and relevant standards (ASTM, ASME)
    • High attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and accuracy in defect characterization
    • Strong communication skills for presenting technical findings to diverse stakeholders
    • Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
    • Strong organizational abilities and skill in managing multiple priorities in dynamic environments
    • Ability to build professional relationships with clients and contractors across varying seniority levels and cultures
