Position Summary:

The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician will independently perform inspections utilizing various NDT techniques to detect corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. The Technician will perform inspections, interpret indications, and report results per company requirements. Additionally, the Technician will communicate processes, procedures, and results to customers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards, practices, and legal regulations, alerting others to potential hazards or concerns.
  • Perform all duties as assigned and adhere to TEAM’s Core Values and Seven Critical Choices.
  • Assist the Senior Technician and instruct apprentice-level personnel on the job.
  • Study to gain NDT certifications while gaining hands-on experience in various NDT methods.
  • Perform duties assigned by the Senior Technician on the job.
  • Perform supervisory activities over apprentice-level personnel as needed.
  • Maintain NDT certification.
  • Perform NDT inspections for which certified.
  • Interpret and report results of inspections, maintaining documentation of inspection activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Understanding of basic math.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Word and computers/computerized equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the NDT field as a certified technician in at least 2 methods.
  • Previous certification to Level II in at least one method (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) preferred.
  • Willingness to travel (0-75% travel requirement).
  • Ability to handle chemicals safely.
  • Ability to follow instructions.

Work Conditions:

  • Position is based out of a branch or site location.
  • Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere.
  • Interaction with other crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
  • Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required for personal protection.
  • May work at multiple job sites in a day and must tolerate climate changes.
  • May be required to travel out of town periodically.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties.
  • Clear speech and hearing capabilities to communicate effectively.
  • Sufficient vision or observation skills to conduct investigations.
  • Manual dexterity to perform routine office duties.
  • Personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations.
  • Mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
  • Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills.
