Position Summary:
PROtect, LLC is seeking a skilled and certified NDT Technician to conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on structures, pipelines, and other components and materials using x-ray, ultrasound, and related equipment. The NDT Technician will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of materials by identifying defects using appropriate testing methods. This role requires a high level of expertise in multiple NDT methods, as well as a strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- NDT Inspections: Conduct non-destructive testing of components and materials using various methods, including gamma radiography, x-ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing, and visual inspections.
- Equipment Setup and Calibration: Select, prepare, load, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Defect Identification: Use appropriate NDT techniques to identify defects in materials and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Documentation: Complete all required documentation and work orders thoroughly and accurately, following established protocols and meeting required deadlines.
- Safety Leadership: Ensure safety of the entire team by following safety standards and providing instruction to assigned assistants.
- Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: Perform general cleaning and minor maintenance of company vehicles and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and a clean, orderly work environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- NDT Expertise: Strong knowledge of multiple NDT methods, with a willingness to engage in ongoing learning and skill application.
- Mechanical Knowledge: Intermediate mechanical knowledge required to operate and maintain equipment.
- Safety Awareness: Strong knowledge of safety regulations and willingness to follow and enforce them, ensuring the safety of the crew and equipment.
- Work Ethic: Must be able to work long hours, up to 16-hour days, and respond to call-outs on short notice. Travel and extended stays on-site are required.
- Physical Demands: Ability to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds, with occasional assistance for objects up to 150 pounds. Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
- Customer Service: Ability to interact professionally with customers, ensuring punctual arrival and effective communication.
- Teamwork: Strong ability to work as part of a team and provide instruction to others in a professional and effective manner.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license and insurability through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier. Certification in one or more of the following NDT methods: Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT). PAUT experience is a plus.
- Work Experience: Demonstrated skill, knowledge, or experience in non-destructive testing.
Physical Demands:
- Able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds across loose, rough, or uneven terrain.
- Occasionally required to exert maximum force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to climb, work at heights, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and hazardous environments.
