Position Summary:

The RT Level 1/Trainee Technician is responsible for performing Radiographic Testing (RT) operations under the supervision and guidance of Level 2 or Level 3 inspectors. This entry-level position will involve assisting with X-Ray tasks, setting up and calibrating X-ray equipment, and interpreting and evaluating results according to industry codes and standards. The RT Level 1 Technician is expected to adhere to safety protocols, including radiation safety and industrial safety guidelines. This role offers an opportunity for growth within the NDT field while providing the necessary support to the team in various technical and operational duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned X-ray tasks effectively, in which certified.
  • Assist Level 2/Level 3 inspectors with process and program-related duties as required.
  • Set up and calibrate various X-ray equipment and interpret results according to applicable codes, standards, and specifications, under supervision.
  • Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety and industrial safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Perform daily RT process control tests as required.
  • Carry out other job-related tasks as assigned by management.
  • Use basic computer skills to generate and maintain technical data.
  • Work autonomously after training to self-direct work schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with multiple levels of employees and management.
  • Demonstrate reliability and self-motivation in completing assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to on-the-job knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure the company’s and customer’s commitments are met as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Pass drug tests and background checks as required.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and ethics in all activities.

Requirements:

  • Ability to generate and communicate technical data both orally and in writing, electronically and manually as necessary.
  • Must have 12 months of prior NDT experience.
  • Ability to work well within a team and maintain effective communication with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently once trained.
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the role, including frequent lifting up to 55 lbs.

Qualifications:

  • Prior certification in RT Level 1 or related NDT certification preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions and maintain strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels.
