Position Summary:
PROtect, LLC is seeking skilled Level I and Level II SPRAT or IRATA Certified Rope Access RT Technicians to perform nondestructive inspections at client facilities. The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting NDT inspections using rope access techniques while ensuring compliance with safety protocols. This role requires expertise in radiographic testing (RT) and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rope access duties in compliance with company and client safety protocols.
- Maintain climbing logbooks per company and certification guidelines.
- Conduct nondestructive testing (NDT) of components and materials using appropriate techniques, including gamma and x-ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing, and visual inspections.
- Select, prepare, load, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment.
- Identify defects in materials using appropriate testing techniques.
- Complete documentation and work orders thoroughly, following established protocols and meeting required timeframes.
- Drive company vehicles and maintain a safe driving record.
- Provide instruction to assigned assistants, ensuring the safety of the entire team.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning and minor maintenance duties to maintain company vehicles.
- Routinely inspect equipment and maintain shop areas in a clean, orderly, and functional condition.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Expertise in multiple NDT methods and a willingness to engage in ongoing learning and skill application.
- Intermediate mechanical knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and procedures, with a commitment to applying these standards in the work environment.
- Active listening skills, with the ability to give full attention to others, understand their points, and ask appropriate questions.
- Strong work ethic, with the ability to work demanding and flexible schedules, including long shifts and responding to call-outs on short notice.
- Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on uneven terrain, and occasionally up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Comfort with climbing, working at heights, and operating in confined spaces and extreme temperatures.
- Professional appearance and conduct, with a commitment to punctuality and customer service.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide instruction to others.
- Critical thinking skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Insurability through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier.
- 40-hour radiation safety course.
- Level I or Level II Rope Access Certification through SPRAT or IRATA.
- Certification in Radiographic Testing (RT); and additional certifications in Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT) are a plus.
Work Experience:
Demonstrated NDT skill, knowledge, or experience, particularly in rope access environments.
