Position Summary

The NDT Quality Specialist supports the 787 Quality team in North Charleston by performing advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) and inspection activities to ensure the integrity and quality of aircraft components and assemblies. The specialist is responsible for setting up, operating, and interpreting results from specialized NDT equipment, ensuring compliance with Boeing standards, and supporting process improvement initiatives. Regular and predictable attendance is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate specialized nondestructive testing or measurement equipment.
  • Perform inspections and collect test data in accordance with established procedures.
  • Analyze, document, and communicate inspection results, assisting with corrective action recommendations.
  • Apply technical expertise to identify and provide feedback on adverse trends.
  • Conduct nondestructive testing and acceptance of repairs on company products.
  • Deliver on-the-job training (OJT) to other personnel as required.
  • Ensure full compliance with Boeing policies, processes, and inspection method procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Current or prior NAS410 (or equivalent) Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) — documented evidence required for Boeing Level 3 review.
  • Current or prior NAS410 (or equivalent) Level II certification in Eddy Current Testing (ET) — documented evidence required for Boeing Level 3 review.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in NDI/NDT inspection or testing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience inspecting parts, components, assemblies, or units.
  • Willingness to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Must submit documented certification evidence at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or prior NAS410 (or equivalent) Level II certification in one or more of the following:
    • Penetrant Testing (PT)
    • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
    • Radiography Testing (RT)
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting Ultrasonic C-scans.
  • Experience with digital radiography, liquid penetrant, or magnetic particle testing.
  • Ability to work from heights up to 55 feet and fit through a 10” x 18” oval opening.
  • Experience inspecting composite materials.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing NDT procedures and techniques.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $30 – $35 USD per hour (based on experience and certification level).
