Position Summary:-
The Quality Control Inspector supports the inspection and verification of critical manufacturing processes at the umbilical facility. The role ensures that materials, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and finished products conform to defined specifications, industry standards, customer requirements, and the Quality Management System (QMS).
The position provides independent quality control through dimensional, visual, and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities, goods inward inspection, in-process inspection, and final product verification. The role contributes to product integrity, right-first-time delivery, quality performance, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:-
Inspection & Testing:-
- Perform dimensional, visual, and non-destructive inspections of incoming materials, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and final products.
- Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Measure and accurately record inspection data using appropriate tools and gauges.
Documentation & Records:-
- Review supplier documentation, including Certificates of Conformity (CoC), Material Record Books (MRB), dimensional reports, and traceability reports.
- Record inspection results accurately within the QMS, including SmartSolve.
- Maintain inspection and test records in accordance with QMS requirements.
Quality Performance & Reporting:-
- Raise and track non-conformances (NCs).
- Support investigations and corrective actions as required.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and QA teams to resolve quality-related issues.
Process & Production Support:-
- Provide in-process inspection support during manufacturing.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure quality is built into the manufacturing process.
- Support shift operations, including rotating or off-shift work where required.
Compliance & Standards:-
- Ensure compliance with the Oceaneering Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and procedures.
- Support adherence to Quality Tenets and HSSE requirements.
Systems & Tools:-
- Utilize corporate QMS software, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office applications for reporting and documentation.
- Use measuring equipment such as digital gauges and dial indicators.
Health, Safety, Security & Environment:-
- Actively support Oceaneering’s HSSE initiatives, including STOP observations, reporting, safety meetings, and improvement projects.
- Understand and adhere to safety policies and procedures to help maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications:-
Required Qualifications:-
- Education and/or experience equivalent to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Quality Control, including fabrication, NDE, testing, dimensional measurement, or assembly.
- Demonstrable evidence of systems and process improvement in a continuous improvement role.
- Experience with non-destructive examination methods.
- Working knowledge of Positive Material Identification (PMI) techniques.
- Knowledge of inspection and planning techniques.
- Knowledge of sampling inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
- Competence in the use of measuring equipment.
- Understanding of inspection and quality control processes.
Desired Qualifications:-
- NDE Level II certification in RT (X-ray), LP, MP, or UT.
- Root Cause Analysis training.
- CWI Weld Inspection.
- Experience working in environments such as oil and gas products, automotive, or medical devices is preferred.
Requirements:-
- Ability to work indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions.
- Ability to work in very hot temperatures above 90°F or very cold temperatures below 32°F.
- Ability to work in environments with contaminants.
- Ability to work around sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable.
- Ability to work in close physical proximity to other people.
- Ability to support rotating or off-shift operations where required.
