Position Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for interpreting specifications to determine appropriate testing and inspection procedures and the equipment required. The role includes performing inspections, documenting and tracking non-conformance reports, and ensuring compliance with all quality standards. The inspector works independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy, adherence to procedures, and strong quality control practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections on materials, products, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
- Read drawings, comprehend specifications and tolerances, interpret dial indicators and digital gauges, compare results with specifications, and record test data.
- Conduct advanced dimensional checks and visual verifications of fabricated and machined parts per acceptance criteria.
- Use measurement tools, test equipment, and functional gauges to verify compliance with requirements.
- Validate the quality of machined and fabricated parts and assemblies, including documentation reviews such as dimensional reports, traceability records, and certificates of conformity.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure product, documentation, and service quality.
- Understand and adhere to Gage Calibration and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) requirements.
- Develop and maintain inspection plans based on drawing requirements.
- Interpret inspection results and assist senior personnel with technical tasks.
- Perform tasks requiring moderate technical experience and follow defined procedures and guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance to junior inspectors and technicians.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in quality control techniques and support cross-department functions when required.
- Ensure proper use of calibrated measurement equipment.
- Apply advanced measurement techniques and basic Statistical Process Control where necessary.
- Issue, document, investigate, and track non-conformances and inspection records within SmartSolve modules (Inspection Management, Non-Conformance, CAPA).
- Perform inspections including FAT, SIT, FAI, in-process, final, and receiving inspections.
- Participate in inspection/testing with internal teams, customers, third-party inspectors, and engineering/manufacturing representatives.
- Assist in developing and improving quality system procedures, work instructions, and process flows.
- Use safe material handling and preservation techniques, including forklift and jib crane operation and proper packing/preservation.
- Perform product identification and traceability verification.
- Support customer satisfaction, HSE initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- Required
- 3–5 years of Quality Control experience and/or training, or equivalent education/experience.
- Proficiency with advanced inspection techniques.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.
- Ability to perform dimensional and visual inspections of raw materials, fasteners, fabricated, and machined parts.
- Skilled in reading dials and digital displays, comparing results to specifications, recording inspection data, and collaborating with engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Desired
- Associate’s degree or equivalent technical college education.
- Knowledge of ISO 17020 and ISO 17025.
- Understanding of NDT methodologies.
- CWI certification.

Working Conditions:
- Primarily shop-based work (approx. 80% indoors, 20% outdoors).
- Stable flat work surfaces with occasional exposure to airborne dust.
- Frequent use of measuring/testing equipment, hand tools, and material-handling tools.
- Standard shift-based work hours depending on assignment.
Physical Requirements:
This role is classified as MEDIUM work.
- Occasional:
- Lift 20–50 lbs.
- Work in confined spaces; kneel, crawl, climb, jump, run, or perform tasks requiring full mobility.
- Identify color variations.
- Use PPE for skin protection.
- Frequent:
- Lift 10–25 lbs.
- Climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, carry objects.
- Perform overhead work and repetitive arm/hand movements.
