Position Summary:

Bilfinger UK is recruiting a QA / QC Inspector to join the PUMA project, a new production facility being constructed by Mitsubishi Chemicals UK at the Saltend Chemicals Park in Hull. The inspector will ensure the quality, safety, and integrity of piping systems installed during the project. This role involves performing inspections, assessments, and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities to verify compliance with industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.

The position is site-based at the PUMA project offices and offers the opportunity to play a key role in delivering a large-scale, high-profile construction project.

Key Responsibilities:

The QA / QC Inspector will be responsible for:

  • Inspecting and assessing piping installations in line with ASME, ASTM, API, and ANSI standards.
  • Conducting visual inspections to identify defects or damage in piping, welds, fittings, and supports.
  • Reviewing and interpreting piping isometrics and P&IDs to confirm proper installation and alignment.
  • Applying knowledge of welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API) to ensure compliance.
  • Overseeing NDT activities, including UT, RT, and MPT, in accordance with project specifications.
  • Conducting visual inspections of weld quality, surface conditions, alignment, and weld size.
  • Verifying compliance with established welding procedures and standards.
  • Performing visual inspections and thickness checks on structural and piping coatings.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality control procedures during all inspections.
  • Preparing detailed inspection reports, including findings, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and contractors to resolve inspection-related issues.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation, including inspection records and non-conformance reports.
  • Conducting final acceptance inspections of completed piping systems.
  • Staying current with industry standards, codes, and best practices.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a fabrication or construction environment, with prior inspection responsibilities.
  • CSWIP Level 3.1 certification (minimum requirement).
  • Knowledge and application of relevant NDT methods.

Preferred/Optional:

  • Radiograph Interpretation certification.
  • Coatings Inspection certifications (ICorr Level 1 or NACE Level 1).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with Navisworks 2024.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to operate effectively within a large project team.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to achieve client deadlines.
