Position Summary

PROtect LLC is seeking a skilled Phased Array Technician to perform non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on pipelines, structures, and various industrial components using advanced techniques such as Phased Array Ultrasonics (PAUT), Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD), x-ray, and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI). This role demands strong technical capability, field readiness, and a commitment to safety. The ideal candidate will bring advanced PAUT knowledge, solid NDT experience, and flexibility for extensive travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct NDT inspections using PAUT, TOFD, shearwave UT, x-ray, MPI, laser profilometry, and visual testing.
  • Prepare, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment in accordance with specifications and procedures.
  • Accurately identify defects and record inspection results per company protocols and industry standards.
  • Complete required documentation, reports, and work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain a safe and organized job site, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Supervise and instruct assigned assistants, ensuring both safety and technical accuracy on the job.
  • Operate company vehicles and maintain a safe driving record.

Requirements

Education & Certification

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability through company insurance provider.
  • Ultrasonic Shearwave and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) certification required.
  • Completion of a recognized 80-hour PAUT training course.
  • Minimum of 320 hours of documented on-the-job PAUT experience.

Experience

  • Demonstrated NDT skills with proven experience in shearwave and PAUT inspections.
  • Pipeline integrity experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to travel extensively (75%+), including long-distance assignments and extended stays.

Technical Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in multiple NDT methods with willingness to stay current with evolving technologies.
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, including leading others in safe practices.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting (up to 75 lbs), climbing, and working in extreme environments.
