NDT Trainee

Position Summary

The NDT Trainee will support Level II and Level III Technicians in performing nondestructive testing activities. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience while learning and developing the knowledge required for a career in NDT. The trainee is expected to assist in daily operations, equipment preparation, and documentation, under the supervision of certified personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Level II/III Technicians with equipment setup and other assigned tasks.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance activities.
• Assist with documenting services provided and maintaining records.
• Follow work order instructions as directed by NDT Level III.
• Support part preparation, washing, and packing.
• Monitor and report inventory needs for NDT operations.
• Ensure compliance with controlled documents, work instructions, and MISTRAS quality system requirements.
• Learn and follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Participate in all required quality systems, safety, and process training.
• Operate under direct supervision only; may not conduct inspections independently.
• Report incidents to appropriate safety management personnel and assist as needed.
• Perform additional qualified tasks as directed by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong work ethic; self-starter and motivated.
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules, including overtime when needed.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures precisely.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments.
• Basic computer skills (data entry, word processing, simple spreadsheets).
• Must pass vision and color eye exams.

Essential Physical Functions

• Ability to frequently lift and carry 20–50 lbs.
• Work around production machinery with high noise levels.
• Handle water with varying temperatures during processes.
• Must be able to wear required safety equipment.
• Must have sufficient hearing, speech, and vision (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform essential tasks.
