Position Summary:
The NDT Technology Development Engineer supports the implementation of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technical consulting and product development services for Oceaneering business units and global clients. The role focuses on the design, development, evaluation, and optimization of NDT inspection technologies, ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulations. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve inspection workflows, support asset integrity operations, develop innovative NDT solutions, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Execute product and prototype design and development assignments related to NDT inspection technologies, including Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Radiography.
- Support Asset Integrity operations by developing and reviewing test procedures, calculations, and technical reports.
- Execute cross-functional design and development projects from concept through product qualification using testing, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other validation methods.
- Support inspection teams in the development of bids and proposals for Asset Integrity Inspection projects across the Asia and India region.
- Study NDT market opportunities to identify industry needs, challenges, and potential business opportunities.
- Generate, evaluate, and screen product and technology ideas while developing supporting business cases.
- Benchmark competitor products by evaluating technology, features, construction, materials, reliability, quality, and cost.
- Conduct literature reviews, patent landscape analyses, and technical research using journals, online publications, newsletters, and other relevant sources.
- Review design specifications, test procedures, assembly procedures, and other engineering documentation created by project teams.
- Participate in concept reviews and technical brainstorming sessions.
- Ensure compliance with established engineering processes within the product engineering team.
- Define functional processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with external research organizations, vendors, and institutes to build technical competencies and develop innovative products and prototypes.
- Demonstrate initiative in achieving individual and team objectives.
- Travel as required to support business needs.
- Work toward departmental and organizational goals.
- Guide team members in achieving performance objectives.
- Comply with organizational HR policies and procedures.
- Adhere to organizational Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and practices.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing technologies, particularly Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Radiography.
- Ability to support technical consulting and product development activities.
- Experience or capability in engineering design, testing, and product qualification activities.
- Ability to develop and review technical procedures, calculations, and reports.
- Understanding of engineering processes, continuous improvement methodologies, and compliance requirements.
- Willingness to travel as required by business needs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, external vendors, research agencies, and institutes.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and organizational compliance standards.
