Position Summary
The NDT Technician Level II is responsible for performing nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections with minimal supervision, ensuring full compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and project requirements. The role focuses primarily on Level II Shear Wave Ultrasound (UT-SW) inspections while maintaining accuracy, safety, and efficiency in all testing operations. The technician works closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver high-quality inspection results and technical recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nondestructive testing using Level II Shear Wave Ultrasound (UT-SW) and other certified NDT methods, including UT, MT, PT, RT, and VT.
- Interpret and evaluate test results in compliance with ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, and other applicable industry standards.
- Prepare detailed and accurate inspection reports, documenting results and findings.
- Conduct equipment calibrations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in training and mentoring Level I NDT Technicians.
- Communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, and clients regarding inspection results and recommendations.
- Maintain precise records and documentation of testing and inspections.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and site-specific requirements to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Level II certification in Shear Wave Ultrasound (UT).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience performing NDT inspections.
- Strong understanding of NDT methods, codes, and standards (ASME, ASTM, API, AWS).
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work in field and industrial environments, including confined spaces and elevated work areas.
- Must successfully pass an FBI fingerprint-based background check.
Preferred Skills
- Additional Level II certifications in MT, PT, RT, or VT.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to work independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client interaction.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The position involves a combination of field and office work, requiring frequent travel to project sites. Work environments may include construction sites, industrial facilities, confined spaces, and heights up to 200 feet. The role requires the ability to:
- Lift up to 70 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Frequently move throughout job sites and operate standard office and testing equipment.
