Position Summary

The NDT Technician Level II is responsible for independently performing nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections using Shear Wave Ultrasonic Testing (UT-SW) and other qualified methods. This role ensures that testing and evaluations are conducted in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The technician must demonstrate technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and effectively in a variety of field and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform NDT inspections using Level II Shear Wave Ultrasonic Testing (UT-SW) and other certified methods (UT, MT, PT, RT, VT).
  • Interpret and evaluate test results in compliance with ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports and documentation of findings.
  • Calibrate and maintain NDT equipment to ensure precision and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in mentoring and training NDT Level I Technicians.
  • Communicate inspection results and recommendations to engineers, project managers, and clients.
  • Follow safety procedures and adhere to site-specific safety protocols at all times.
  • Maintain organized records and support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Level II certification in Shear Wave Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience performing NDT inspections.
  • Proficient knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, API, AWS).
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work in field and industrial environments, including confined spaces and elevated locations.
  • Must successfully pass an FBI fingerprint-based background check.

Preferred Skills:

  • Additional Level II certifications in MT, PT, RT, or VT.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within team environments.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work involves both field and office environments, including construction sites, industrial facilities, and confined spaces.
  • Frequent travel to project sites is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, work at heights up to 200 feet, and stand or move for extended periods.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, uneven terrain, and varying weather environments.
  • Regular use of standard office and inspection equipment.

  • Pay Range: $25.00 – $33.00 per hour (based on experience and skill set).
