Position Summary:
The NDT Technician 2 (Level II Shear Wave Ultrasound Technician) is responsible for performing nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections with minimal supervision while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse and challenging field environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform NDT inspections using Level II Shear Wave Ultrasound (UT-SW) and other certified methods (UT, MT, PT, RT, VT).
- Interpret and evaluate test results in compliance with ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, and other applicable standards.
- Prepare accurate and detailed inspection reports.
- Assist in training and mentoring NDT Technician 1 personnel.
- Conduct equipment calibrations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to communicate findings and provide recommendations.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of inspections and testing.
- Follow all safety protocols and site-specific requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Level II certification in Shear Wave Ultrasound (UT).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience performing NDT inspections.
- Strong knowledge of NDT techniques, codes, and standards (ASME, ASTM, API, AWS).
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work in field and industrial environments, including confined spaces and elevated heights.
- Ability to pass an FBI fingerprint-based background check.
Preferred Skills:
- Additional Level II certifications in MT, PT, RT, or VT.
- Strong problem-solving and independent working ability.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client interactions.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Combination of field and office work, with frequent travel to project sites.
- Field conditions may include construction sites, industrial facilities, confined spaces, and elevated heights up to 200 feet.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, stand for extended periods, and move frequently throughout the workday.
- Regular requirements include talking, hearing, standing, walking, handling equipment, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Occasional requirements include sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, occasionally 50–100 pounds, and push/pull equipment up to 200 pounds.
- Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather and on uneven ground.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base pay: $25.00 – $33.00 per hour (based on skill set and experience).
