description
Calling all L2 NDT technicians who have experience working in the Marine,
offshore Oil & Gas and Energy sectors.
- Want to

- Certification
in UT is essential; ET, highly desirable, with the addition of PAUT and/or
ToFD, or any other advanced UT or ET technique, being a bonus.
My client has developed an in-house NDT solution that is a game-changer
in corrosion mapping. This has led to a greatly increased order book.
Therefore, I am seeking experienced Level 2 NDT technicians to support the
Principal of NDT Services in the growth of the department - exciting times
ahead.
This company provides specialist advice on a wide range of
inter-disciplinary areas including nautical services, marine and energy loss
adjusting, metallurgy, inspection and non-destructive testing and marine
engineering.
Overall Objective of Role:
- This is a
permanent staff position. You must be able to operate out of a Liverpool
site and be willing to deploy globally when required.
- Become highly
skilled in a number of advanced NDT/NDE methods.
- Execute
corrosion mapping and welding inspection, utilising complex UT & ET
methods on marine & offshore structures, static plant equipment, and
extraneous piping/tubing in a variety of environments.
- Issue interim
and final reports, detailing descriptions of examination and anomalies,
stating suitability for service in accordance with regulations such as
IACS Class Rule, ASME/ASNT, API and PED.
- Ensure that
the Safety Policies and Procedures are adhered to insofar as is reasonably
practicable.
Essential
Skills
- Minimum
of 5 years’ experience related to specific job description.
- Broad
knowledge of marine & offshore structures along with condition
monitoring and diagnostic engineering techniques.
- PCN
Level 2 Eddy Current Testing (ECT) in any of the following
(Forgings/Welds/Tubes) highly desirable
- PCN
Level 2 Ultrasonic Testing (UT) 3:1 & 3:2 in addition 3:8 & 3:9
would be beneficial
- PCN
Level 2 Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) beneficial not essential
- PCN
Level 2 in a basic surface method of testing (VT, MT or PT)
- Experience
in advanced ET methods namely Eddy Current Array (ECA) & Pulsed Eddy
Current (PEC) is highly desirable
- Experience
in Corrosion Mapping surveys
- Experience
with any of the following Corrosion Mapping systems highly desirable.
Systems such as: - Eddyfi LYFT - Reddy ECA - M2M R Scan Array - Olympus
Hydroform - Sliverwing RMS & Floormap
- Experience
interpreting and editing schematics in AutoCAD
- Demonstrable
experience in using advanced NDE software and analytical tools
- Good
understanding of HSSE management systems and Risk Assessment methodology
- Well
versed in internationally accepted codes, standards and practices
- Good
understanding of degradation mechanisms affecting fixed equipment and
infrastructure in Marine, Offshore Oil & Gas and Energy industries
- Full
UK Driving License
- Highly
motivated and proactive individual with excellent attention to detail
- A
motivated, approachable and enthusiastic individual with a positive
attitude
- Good
communication skills
- Good
IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Salary benefits
Allowances when engaged out of the office to undertake inspection duties:
For onshore inspections in UK or overseas – £120 per day; For offshore
inspections – £175 per day. Extensive and generous allowances are available in
addition to salary.

Job responsibilities
·
Execute
corrosion mapping and welding inspection, utilising complex UT & ET methods
on marine & offshore structures, static plant equipment, and extraneous piping/tubing
in a variety of environments.
·
Work as part
of a project team to create detailed technical reports for corrosion mapping.
·
Inform the
Managing, Senior or Principal engineer, without delay, when any inspected
equipment or NDE results indicate an item is not fit for service.
·
Be able to
deploy globally at short notice in-case of an immediate reactive solution
requirement.
·
Assist in
equipment functionality checks, calibrations, and competency tests.
·
Perform any
assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the company’s integrated quality
management systems.
·
Any other
ad-hoc duties which fall within the individual’s abilities.
