Position Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup, calibration, and operation of NDT equipment in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
- Support NDT inspections such as gamma and X-ray radiography, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing, and visual inspections.
- Prepare inspection areas by assembling equipment, cleaning welds, and laying cables.
- Aid technicians during testing by taking readings, holding sensors, or applying test materials.
- Follow strict safety procedures, particularly when working with radiation, heights, or confined spaces.
- Assist in identifying material defects using various NDT methods.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.
- Drive company vehicles safely and maintain a clean driving record.
- Participate in training and learn new tasks under the guidance of lead technicians.
- Adhere to company safety standards and promote a safe work environment for all team members.
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license with insurability through PROtect’s insurance carrier.
- State Card/Trainer certification preferred.
- TWIC card preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Basic mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all relevant policies and regulations.
- Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and on-call shifts.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs frequently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
- Comfortable working in various conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and extreme weather.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
- Experience:
- Previous work experience in industrial, mechanical, or construction environments preferred.
