The Technical Sales Engineer’s role is to identify and develop new accounts primarily in the UK, and potentially internationally, in an effort to grow sales within the Nuclear, Wind, Oil & Gas, and Aerospace sectors. Armed with commercial skills, previous experience in the NDT industry and technical expertise on the Company’s products, the TSE is expected to lead all aspects of local market promotion, sales prospecting, product demonstrations, RFQ responses, issuance of quotations, support with product deliveries and provision of product training. The Technical Sales Engineer will work remotely from their home office and spend on average four days per week visiting customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed sales targets
  • Search for new clients who could benefit from our products
  • Travel to visit potential clients (including some international travel)
  • Establish new, and maintaining existing, relationships with customers
  • Manage and interpret customer requirements
  • Persuade clients that our product or service will best satisfy their needs
  • Raise client quotations
  • Coordinate customer deliveries and provide product training, if required
  • Offer after-sales support services
  • Record and maintain client contact data using our CRM software
  • Support marketing by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
  • Make technical presentations and demonstrating how a product will meet client needs
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education
  • Liaise with other members of the sales team and other technical experts
  • Solve client problems
  • You must be willing to travel regularly within the UK and abroad

Experience, Skills and Education:

  • Minimum of three years sales experience within the NDT industry ideally targeting both Oil and Gas as well as Aerospace and Composites customers
  • Experience of using ultrasonic NDT inspection systems
  • Strong application knowledge of corrosion mapping and/or composites inspection would be beneficial
  • Must possess a full UK driving licence
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Communication; Strong technical, communication and persuasion skills

  • Highly Adaptable; Possesses an uncanny ability to quickly learn new skills and methodologies as required by the project/task at hand. Possesses an attention to detail and an ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Teamwork: Exhibits good interpersonal skills to get along with co-workers and customers
  • Superb IT literacy and competency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Planning, problem solving and time management

Compensation:

  • Annual Base Salary, depending on candidate experience
  • Company car
  • 22 days of Holiday per annum, excluding the 8 statutory holidays
