Position Summary:
The NDT Specialist will support inspection operations by performing non-destructive testing to ensure quality and detect discontinuities in materials and equipment. The role involves applying advanced NDT techniques, evaluating inspection results, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and safety regulations. The position is based in Bellingham, Washington, with a preference for local candidates or those willing to relocate.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure quality and detect defects using applicable inspection methods
- Establish and implement proper testing techniques while adhering to safety regulations
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with relevant specifications and standards and evaluate results
- Identify, track, manage, and mitigate risks in client engagements, escalating issues when necessary
- Review asset documentation and operational data, including inspection and monitoring records
- Perform integrity assessments, including physical site walkdowns when required
- Prepare detailed project reports outlining work performed, conclusions, and recommendations
- Perform specialized inspections as required
- Develop inspection techniques for approval by customer certifying agents
- Instruct and supervise team members when necessary
- Maintain knowledge of ASME and API requirements for equipment serviceability
- Follow industry health and safety policies and procedures
- Interface with customers regarding schedules, coordination, and problem-solving
- Utilize relevant software and computer systems for inspection and reporting
Qualifications:
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical background in NDT methods (UT, UTPA, PAUT, CR, DR, etc.)
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience
- Current NDT certifications in applicable methods (UT, UTPA, PAUT, CR, DR, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to perform NDT tasks and interpret inspection results
- Knowledge of NDT equipment
- Ability to use computer systems and relevant software
Preferred
- Some college education
- TWIC card
- IRRSP card
- 40-hour Radiation Safety Training
- Industrial Radiographer State Card / Trainer status
- Additional certifications such as MT, PT, PMI, or VT
- Supervisory experience
Requirements:
- Local to Bellingham, Washington, or surrounding area, or willingness to relocate
- Ability to work in outdoor environments with physical and mental demands
- Willingness to travel as required
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
- Physical capability for mobility tasks such as reaching, kneeling, crawling, bending, and crouching
- Endurance for activities such as standing, walking, climbing, driving, and prolonged physical effort
