Position Summary:
The NDT Level II Technician is responsible for conducting non-destructive testing inspections on structures, pipelines, components, and materials using Digital Radiography (DR) and Computed Radiography (CR), along with other NDT methods including UTT, MT, and PT. The role involves operating and calibrating inspection equipment, identifying material defects, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety procedures. The technician is also expected to provide guidance to assigned assistants and contribute to safe and efficient field operations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct non-destructive testing inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and procedures
- Perform inspections using RT, CR/DR, UTT, MT, and PT methods
- Select, prepare, calibrate, load, and operate NDT equipment
- Identify defects and discontinuities using appropriate testing techniques
- Complete documentation, reports, and work orders within required timeframes
- Drive company vehicles and maintain safe driving practices
- Provide instruction and guidance to assigned assistants while ensuring team safety
- Perform general cleaning and minor maintenance of vehicles and equipment
- Maintain work and shop areas in a clean, organized, and functional condition
- Carry out additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Insurability through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier
- Level II Certification in RT with CR/DR, UTT, MT, and PT
- State Card required
- Demonstrated NDT skills, knowledge, or experience
Requirements:
- Expertise in multiple NDT methods with willingness to continue learning
- Intermediate mechanical knowledge
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and regulations
- Ability to work long hours, including up to 16-hour days
- Availability for short-notice call-outs and extended travel assignments
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds and occasionally up to 150 pounds with assistance
- Capability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to work near mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards
- Professional appearance and customer service skills
- Strong teamwork, coordination, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to monitor equipment and adapt to changing work conditions
