Position Summary:

Magellan Aerospace is seeking an NDT Level II Inspector to perform Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI) on aerospace components in accordance with NAS 410, Nadcap, customer specifications, and company procedures. The position requires independent execution of inspections, interpretation of results, accurate documentation, and support for continuous compliance with quality and safety standards.

The NDT Level II Inspector reports to the NDT Supervisor or NDT Level III and is responsible for maintaining inspection quality, supporting audits, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the Non-Destructive Testing department.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) inspections in accordance with approved procedures, work instructions, route cards, and customer requirements.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment and inspection systems following method-specific procedures and calibration standards.
  • Inspect production parts, evaluate indications, and make acceptance or rejection decisions based on applicable criteria.
  • Complete inspection documentation, route cards, logs, reports, and properly mark and stamp inspected parts.
  • Compare internal inspection results against applicable standards and support customer and third-party inspection approvals as required.
  • Maintain inspection equipment, supplies, and work areas, performing minor equipment maintenance and reporting issues promptly.
  • Support the development and revision of inspection plans, procedures, techniques, and acceptance criteria under the guidance of NDT Level III personnel.
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of NDT trainees and Level I personnel when assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with Nadcap, AS9100, customer, and internal quality requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and participate in corrective action activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing scrap, rework, and audit findings.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support NDT operations.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational, technical, or trade school training preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of industrial NDT experience preferred.
  • Aerospace industry NDT experience strongly preferred.

Certification Requirements

  • NAS 410 NDT Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and/or Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • ASNT-based certifications may be accepted if they meet NAS 410 equivalency requirements.
  • Ability to provide documented training and experience records in accordance with NAS 410 requirements.
  • Knowledge of aerospace NDT standards, specifications, and acceptance criteria.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurements.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including inspection records, logs, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional interaction with customers, auditors, supervisors, and coworkers.

Requirements:

  • Must pass a vision examination in accordance with NAS 410 requirements, including:
  • Near vision: Jaeger J1 (or equivalent) at 12 inches, with or without correction.
  • Color vision: Ability to correctly identify applicable color standards.
  • Must successfully complete a drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Must possess good fine motor skills and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be eligible to access technical data, software, or hardware subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations, as required by applicable regulations.
  • Maintain exemplary attendance, professional conduct, and compliance with company policies.
  • Support compliance with Nadcap, AS9100, Magellan Operating Systems, and customer requirements.
  • Contribute to minimizing customer complaints, audit findings, scrap, and rework.
