Position Summary:

Oceaneering is seeking a qualified and experienced NDT Level II Inspector to join their team. This position is vital in ensuring that Nondestructive Testing (NDT) inspections align with customer directives and industry standards. The NDT Level II Inspector will be responsible for setting up and calibrating equipment, interpreting and evaluating inspection results, and ensuring quality processes are followed. The role also includes guiding and mentoring NDT trainees in a dynamic and collaborative Tiger Team environment. Travel and overtime may be required, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute directly to Oceaneering’s success in the aerospace, defense, and maritime industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and calibrate NDT equipment properly to ensure accurate inspections.
  • Accurately interpret and evaluate NDT results in accordance with established codes and standards, understanding the scope and limitations of qualified NDT methods.
  • Organize and report inspection results effectively, ensuring that all relevant findings are documented and communicated.
  • Conduct Visual Inspection (VT), Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT), and UT Shear Wave Inspection. Additional methods such as RT and ET are preferred.
  • Maintain custody and condition of Level II NDT inspection equipment, ensuring that tools are always operational.
  • Ensure personal NDT training and qualifications are kept current, and actively mentor trainees in NDT methods and techniques.
  • Document inspection results accurately using company Quality Assurance forms.
  • Work closely with the client and team members to ensure project success, safety compliance, and quality assurance.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED minimum.
  • Previous military or industrial training/qualification/certification/experience that meets Level II NDT requirements.
  • Certification in NDT methods, including VT, MT, PT, and UT Shear Wave, is required. Additional certifications, such as RT and ET, are preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of submarine and/or surface combat ships is recommended.
  • Candidates must submit proof of NDT certification in the required methods (VT, MT, PT, UT Shear Wave) with their application.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and not hold dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance issued by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in setting up and calibrating NDT equipment for inspections.
  • Strong ability to interpret and evaluate inspection results accurately.
  • Experience with a range of NDT methods such as VT, MT, PT, and UT Shear Wave; additional methods (RT, ET) are a plus.
  • Proven ability to work independently and efficiently while following safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively work with clients, team members, and management.
  • Ability to work in various challenging environments, including confined spaces and extreme temperatures, while adhering to safety protocols.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • This role is considered production/outdoor work, requiring the ability to work in a variety of environments, including shipyards, manufacturing sites, and other outdoor settings.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and the ability to perform tasks in confined spaces, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and work in various positions.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for this position, including protection for skin, eyes, and hearing.
