Position Summary:
The NDT Field Service Technician is responsible for performing inspections to assess the integrity of technical installations within the petrochemical industry using various Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques. Following an internal training period, the technician will independently conduct inspections on assets such as storage tanks and pipelines, evaluate weld joints and wall-thickness loss, prepare inspection reports, maintain client communication, and support the safe and efficient operation of inspection equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques after completing internal training.
- Inspect storage tanks, pipelines, weld joints, and areas with potential wall-thickness loss.
- Apply NDT methods including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Visual Testing (VT).
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the field to conduct inspections and compile results.
- Prepare clear and structured inspection reports for clients.
- Maintain communication with clients regarding inspection activities and results.
- Ensure accurate administrative processing and documentation.
- Perform simple maintenance and minor repairs on inspection equipment when required.
- Follow established procedures and safety regulations at all times.
- Support inspection activities throughout the Benelux region and occasionally abroad.
Qualifications:
- Completed MBO Level 4 education, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience with or interest in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
- Possession of one or more NDT certifications (UT, MT, PT, VT) or willingness to obtain them.
- Good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of Visio is considered a significant advantage.
- Technical work experience in an industrial or metalworking environment is an asset.
Requirements:
- Valid Category B driving license.
- Flexible and willing to travel, including occasional work abroad.
- Preferably in possession of a VCA certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to work according to established procedures and safety regulations.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work accurately, independently, and responsibly.
- Proactive attitude with initiative and accountability.
- Ability to produce clear and structured reports.
- Residence in the Rotterdam area.
- Ability to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).
