Position Summary

Element Materials Technology is seeking an NDT Eddy Current Technician (Level I) to perform nondestructive testing using the eddy current method to evaluate materials, components, and assemblies for surface and near-surface defects. The technician will ensure compliance with industry codes, customer requirements, and internal quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This is a second-shift position with working hours from 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm, offering a pay rate of $21–$24/hour plus a $1 shift differential.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform eddy current inspections on metals, alloys, and other conductive materials to detect cracks, corrosion, wear, or other discontinuities.
  • Set up and calibrate eddy current equipment according to procedures, specifications, and standards.
  • Follow written procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
  • Collaborate with quality and production teams to address findings and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure NDT equipment is properly maintained, stored, and calibrated.
  • Adhere to company and industry safety practices, including correct use of PPE.
  • Maintain certification and training requirements in line with company policy and applicable standards (e.g., ASNT SNT-TC-1A, NAS 410).

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in NDT, with at least 1 year in eddy current testing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with eddy current instruments, probes, and accessories.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and procedures.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Work performed in both field and shop environments, with exposure to varying weather and industrial conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime or weekends as required.
  • Strict adherence to safety procedures and use of PPE.
