Assistant Technician

Position Summary:-

MISTRAS is seeking an Assistant Technician to support Level II NDE Technicians with designated nondestructive testing (NDT) method activities while gaining practical experience and knowledge. The position involves assisting with equipment setup and teardown, maintenance, calibration, documentation, and other operational activities.

For employees hired as Assistant Radiographers or Radiographer Trainees, the role also includes supporting industrial radiography activities under the direct visual supervision of a radiographer or radiographic instructor and following applicable radiation safety requirements.

The position starts at $23 per hour.

Responsibilities:-

• Assist technicians with the setup and teardown of NDT equipment.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, calibrations, and general upkeep of equipment and facilities.
• Assist with proper documentation and preparation of reports for services provided.
• Learn and follow company policies and procedures.
• For Assistant Radiographer or Radiographer Trainee duties:
• Operate radiographic equipment only under the direct visual supervision of a radiographer or radiographic instructor.
• Maintain constant surveillance and immediate control of industrial radiographic equipment while it is in use.
• Secure industrial radiographic equipment from unauthorized removal when it is not under constant surveillance and immediate control.
• Prevent unauthorized personnel from entering restricted area boundaries while industrial radiographic equipment is in use.
• Notify appropriate safety management personnel of incidents and provide assistance as needed.
• Maintain the ability to meet NRC criteria for certification as trustworthy and reliable.

Qualifications:-

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Ability to follow precise directions and procedures.
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules and work assignments.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks.
• Ability to read technical documents and engineering specifications is preferred.

Requirements:-

• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to respond to short-notice work assignments.
• Willingness and ability to travel out of town and stay overnight occasionally.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
• Assistant Radiographer or Radiographer Trainee personnel must be capable of being certified as trustworthy and reliable according to NRC criteria.
• Ability to work in accordance with company safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
