Position Summary:-
MISTRAS Alaska is seeking an NDT Assistant to support Level II and Level III technicians on projects throughout Alaska. The position is a hands-on field role supporting non-destructive testing (NDT) activities and may involve extended shifts depending on project requirements.
The position is based in Anchorage or Wasilla, Alaska, and is limited to candidates who are currently local to these areas. Non-local candidates will not be considered.
Responsibilities:-
- Assist Level II and Level III NDT technicians with inspections and testing activities.
- Prepare equipment and work areas for NDT examinations.
- Support NDT activities in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements.
- Assist with equipment handling, setup, and cleanup.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Follow company, client, safety, and quality requirements.
- Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:-
- Some prior NDT experience or NDE classroom training.
- NDE classroom hours or experience with methods such as UT, RT, PT, MT, or VT is highly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- A 40-hour Radiation Safety course is highly preferred.
- Current IRRSP or state card is preferred.
- Current Level I or higher IRATA Rope Access certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
Requirements:-
- Candidates must have some NDT/NDE experience or training.
- Candidates without NDT/NDE experience or training will not be considered.
- Candidates must currently be local to Anchorage or Wasilla, Alaska.
- Ability to work project-based schedules.
- Ability to work daily shifts of 12 hours or longer.
- Ability to travel to other Alaska project locations as needed.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including subzero temperatures.
- Ability to work in cramped, confined, and industrial environments.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 75 pounds.
