Position Summary
The NDE Trainee (Apprentice Nondestructive Testing Technician) assists Technicians and Senior Technicians in performing nondestructive testing inspections using various NDT methods to identify corrosion, defects, or other detrimental conditions. This role provides hands-on training under supervision while working toward NDT certifications and developing technical inspection skills.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements

- Assist Technicians and Senior Technicians during NDT inspections
- Learn and apply NDT methods through supervised, hands-on experience
- Study and work toward obtaining NDT certifications
- Perform assigned duties on job sites under supervision
- Carry out additional job-related tasks as assigned
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic understanding of mathematics
- Ability to use Microsoft Word
- Ability to operate computers and computerized equipment
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English
- Willingness to travel (0–75%)
- Ability to safely handle chemicals
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Willingness to travel out of town periodically
Work Conditions
- Based out of a branch or site location
- Field work performed indoors and outdoors in industrial plant environments
- Regular interaction with crew members, supervisors, and client personnel
- Exposure to production machinery and high-noise environments
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- May work at multiple job sites in a single day
- Must tolerate varying weather and climate conditions
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to walk, climb ladders, and access elevated platforms
- Sufficient hearing and speech abilities to communicate effectively, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Adequate manual dexterity to perform routine tasks
- Ability to travel and work at off-site locations
- Ability to maintain focus, multitask, and work effectively in demanding environments
- Strong communication skills
