Position Summary
The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician Level II is responsible for independently performing inspections utilizing various NDT techniques to detect corrosion, defects, and other detrimental conditions in accordance with defined criteria. The technician interprets and reports inspection results, ensuring compliance with company and customer standards. This role also includes mentoring apprentice-level personnel and supporting ongoing training and certification efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to company and customer safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Perform NDT inspections using certified methods and interpret results in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain thorough documentation of inspection activities.
- Assist Senior Technicians and instruct apprentice-level personnel as needed.
- Supervise and guide less experienced team members to ensure proper execution of inspection tasks.
- Pursue and maintain NDT certifications through study and practical application.
- Handle chemicals safely and ensure all inspection equipment is properly used and maintained.

Key Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the NDT field as a certified technician in at least two methods.
- Previous certification to Level II in at least one method (PT, MT, UT, RT, or ET) preferred.
- Proficiency in basic mathematics and familiarity with Microsoft Word and computer-based equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% as required.
- Ability to safely handle inspection-related chemicals.
Work Conditions
- Based at a branch or site location with frequent field assignments.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in industrial plant environments.
- Regular interaction with supervisors, crew members, and client representatives.
- Exposure to production areas with high noise levels; appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.
- Must be able to tolerate varying weather conditions and climate changes.
- Occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Sufficient mobility to navigate refinery or plant environments, including climbing ladders and stairwells.
- Clear communication, both verbal and written, to effectively convey findings and instructions.
- Adequate vision and hearing to perform inspections accurately, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Strong manual dexterity and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to maintain focus and composure during field operations.
