Position Summary:
The NDE Technician will independently perform inspections using various nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques to identify corrosion, defects, or other detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. This role is responsible for performing inspections, interpreting indications, and reporting results in line with company requirements. The Technician must also be able to effectively communicate processes, procedures, and results to customers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to company and customer safety standards, as well as legal regulations.
- Perform all assigned duties in alignment with TEAM’s Core Values and Seven Critical Choices.
- Assist Senior Technicians and instruct apprentice-level personnel on-site.
- Study to gain additional NDT certifications while developing hands-on experience across various methods.
- Execute supervisory activities for apprentice-level personnel as needed.
- Maintain current NDT certifications.
- Conduct inspections using certified NDT methods.
- Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic math proficiency.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Word and other computerized equipment.
- Strong reading, comprehension, and communication skills in English.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the NDT field as a certified technician in at least 2 methods.
- Previous certification to Level II in at least one method (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) preferred.
- Willingness to travel (0–75%).
- Ability to handle chemicals safely.
- Strong ability to follow instructions.
Work Conditions:
- Role based at a branch or site location.
- Field duties involve both indoor and outdoor work in plant environments.
- Regular interaction with supervisors, crew members, and client personnel.
- Work performed around production machinery with high noise levels.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Potentially multiple job sites in one day, requiring adaptation to climate changes.
- Occasional out-of-town travel required.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Capable of walking and climbing in plant and field environments.
- Clear speech and hearing (with or without accommodation) for effective communication.
- Adequate vision and observation abilities to perform inspections (with or without accommodation).
- Manual dexterity sufficient to carry out office and field tasks.
- Mobility and reflexes required to navigate refinery or plant environments, including accessing elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
- Ability to remain focused, multitask effectively, and communicate clearly.
