Position Summary:
The NAS 410 Level II PT Technician is responsible for performing penetrant testing (PT) inspections in accordance with applicable standards and procedures. The role involves setting up and calibrating equipment, conducting inspections, interpreting results, and ensuring accurate documentation. The technician works with minimal supervision while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and industry requirements, and may provide guidance to trainees and Level I personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and calibrate NDT equipment.
- Conduct inspections using appropriate NDT techniques (PT).
- Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results.
- Understand the scope and limitations of the PT method and guide trainees and Level I personnel.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and analyze relevant information effectively.
- Maintain accuracy, quality, and safety in all inspection activities.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a specialized NDT training program meeting SNT-TC-1A requirements for PT.
- Prior certification as an NDE Level II with at least one year of experience, or Level I with sufficient experience to qualify for Level II certification in PT.
- Strong competencies in problem-solving, communication, planning, adaptability, and teamwork.
Requirements:
- Ability to provide documentation including educational qualifications, training hours, and prior certifications.
- Ability to work in plant/shop environments with exposure to noise and varying conditions.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel to multiple job sites as required.
- Ability to wear required safety equipment and work in industrial environments.
