Position Summary:
The Mechanical Integrity Inspector is responsible for conducting internal and external inspections of fixed equipment and piping to ensure compliance with applicable API standards and mechanical integrity requirements. This role supports Risk-Based Mechanical Integrity (RBMI) programs by recommending and approving repairs, certifying compliance, and maintaining detailed documentation of inspection activities. The position works closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to uphold the integrity and reliability of critical assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform internal and external inspections on equipment at scheduled intervals in accordance with API 510, API 570, and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies.
- Enter and maintain inspection data within the Risk-Based Mechanical Integrity (RBMI) database.
- Provide oversight, guidance, and recommendations regarding RBMI program implementation and compliance.
- Conduct Nondestructive Examination (NDE) inspections as required.
- Scope, perform, and coordinate turnaround inspection activities.
- Prepare detailed inspection and turnaround reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with documentation standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to identify and resolve integrity issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Mechanical Integrity Inspection, with a strong focus on Risk-Based Inspection (RBI).
- Valid API 510 certification required; additional certifications such as API 570, API 653, or API 580 are considered an asset.
- Background in NDE and drafting preferred.
- Valid TWIC card required.
- Strong computer, organizational, and technical writing skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of performing independently in field and plant environments.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant codes, standards, and procedures to inspection activities.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance when required.
