Position Summary:
The Machinery Test Engineer is responsible for conducting regulatory compliance testing and inspections on large industrial machinery and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This role ensures that products meet applicable EN, UL, CSA, and SEMI standards and involves both hands-on testing and technical reporting. The engineer will work closely with clients, global laboratories, and regulatory standards to support the safe deployment of advanced technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine appropriate test methods, select testing equipment, and interpret customer test criteria.
- Conduct tests for the certification of equipment under domestic and international standards; advise clients on non-compliance issues.
- Develop test strategies and plans to validate standards compliance, performance, compatibility, and reliability.
- Verify proper operation and design functionality based on product specifications.
- Record and track defects, document test data, maintain technical notes, and prepare/revise SOPs, datasheets, and test reports.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and assist in developing new testing requirements and strategies.
- Communicate with global TÜV Rheinland laboratories to ensure consistency and accuracy in testing practices.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.
Candidate Requirements:
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, including technical writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams and clients.
- Solid engineering knowledge, including test requirements, manufacturing processes, drawings, and standards.
- Familiarity with EN standards, international regulatory requirements, and PUWER regulations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and travel—including abroad.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
- Training in regulatory testing is required.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing regulatory testing in accordance with relevant standards.
- Experience with EU Machinery and Low Voltage Directives.
- Working knowledge of standards such as:
- NFPA 79
- UL 508A
- IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1
- EN 60204
- EN ISO 10218
- ANSI/RIA R15.06
- SEMI S2 and S8 guidelines
- Functional safety experience, including evaluation to EN ISO 13849 and IEC 62061.
- Experience with PUWER assessments.
