Position Summary

The Level III NDT Technician is responsible for leading and overseeing nondestructive testing (NDT) operations for assigned methods, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and company procedures. This role is accountable for interpreting and evaluating inspection results, developing and approving NDT procedures and techniques, and supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of NDT personnel qualification, certification, and technical programs. The position plays a key role in ensuring technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with internal teams and customers.

Major Responsibilities / Activities

  • Periodically reviews and assists in updating NDT certification examinations to ensure effectiveness
  • Recommends program improvements as required
  • Revises NDT personnel qualification and certification procedures to maintain program compliance
  • Develops and maintains all NDT specifications, technical procedures, forms, and supporting documentation
  • Assists in the preparation of capital expense and operating budgets related to NDT programs, as required
  • Provides support for training initiatives in assigned areas and other training as requested by supervision
  • Serves as a representative to ASME, API, ASTM, and other bodies when required
  • Maintains awareness and understanding of applicable regulations, codes, standards, specifications, and company policies and procedures, and communicates requirements to affected personnel
  • Communicates with customers on technical and program-related issues
  • Provides training to personnel and customers to achieve program compliance, efficiency, continued education, and morale
  • Participates in general administrative and technical activities, including cost reduction, communications, safety, housekeeping, and employee training
  • Applies practical knowledge of materials, fabrication, and product technology to establish techniques and assist in defining acceptance criteria when none exist
  • Establishes and tracks key performance indicators
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or college credits preferred
  • Current ASNT NDE Level III certification in the responsible NDT method, with adequate technical knowledge (MT/PT/UT/ET/VT/RT)
  • Proven ability to perform a variety of tasks and adapt to changing assignments
  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete work assignments within defined deadlines
  • Proven ability to follow and clearly communicate customer directions and procedures to subordinates
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers
  • Valid driver’s license

Essential Physical Functions

  • Frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs

Compensation and Employment Details

  • Hourly range: $30 – $45 per hour
