Position Summary:

MISTRAS Group is currently seeking a highly skilled Level II Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Technician to join their in-house aerospace NDE team. The technician will be responsible for performing ultrasonic inspections using a variety of techniques and equipment, primarily on aerospace hardware. This role requires independent work, technical proficiency, and familiarity with applicable industry standards and specifications.

Responsibilities:

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Responsibilities:
  • Set up and calibrate ultrasonic testing equipment.
  • Independently conduct UT inspections using appropriate techniques.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results clearly and accurately.
  • Work with minimal supervision while ensuring inspection quality and adherence to standards.
  • Direct and mentor trainees and Level I technicians as needed.
  • Identify and resolve inspection or equipment issues promptly.
  • Edit and present numerical and inspection data effectively.
Specialized Techniques (UT):
  • Contact inspection experience on aerospace hardware is beneficial.
  • Manual immersion inspection experience is a plus.
  • Experience with automated C-scan systems for inspection of aerospace components (e.g., GE, Honeywell, Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with automated UT inspection systems is also considered advantageous.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a specialized NDT technical program meeting SNT-TC-1A and/or NAS-410 in UT.
  • Previously certified as an NDE Level II with a minimum of one (1) year of experience, or formerly certified as an NDE Level I with adequate aerospace experience to qualify for Level II certification per SNT-TC-1A or NAS-410.
  • Proficiency in understanding applicable codes, standards, and other contractual documents relevant to the UT method.
  • Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Certification to Level II in UT per SNT-TC-1A and/or NAS-410.
  • Prior aerospace experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a safety-conscious environment.
  • Leadership potential in guiding less experienced technicians.
